Begun in 2004, this blog used to be called "Big Brother Spotters" but starting September 2009 I converted it to just a personal blog. In October 2012 I dedicate this to my mother who passed away on September 20th.

Holly King
Hi, everyone...
This is a throw-back entry to the "Big Brother Spotters" blog, and I realize this is a little late, but I had to mention it. I was just watching the last episode of season two of NIP & TUCK and noticed Holly King, from Big Brother 5. She played the part of the nurse porn star. This was made in 2004, so that was five years ago, but it was also *before* she appeared in BB5. For those who have read my blog early since October 2005, I actually met Holly King in Colorado. In fact, Holly King took a movie of me. Well, she wasn't meaning to. I just happened to be in the way of her shooting the foothills of the mountains behind the Heritage Inn. After I confronted her and asked her if she was Holly from Big Brother, we had a 30 minute conversation, and I met Jase. They had just returned from Illinois where Holly met Jase's mother.

Oil Change #16
I changed my oil today for the sixteenth time since having my car on October 2006. I have been putting 24,956 miles per year on my car, so that is why. Other statistics that may interest you are the 37.6 miles per gallon that I am getting. The car has been costing me $24 a day, and that factors in everything. I have spent $4858 for gas so far, $1411 on maintenance, $2705 on insurance, $1664 on tolls, and $508 for legal costs. The car istelf cost me $15,062. I am averaging driving 69 miles a day.

The Mystery of the Opening Door
I solved the mystery of the opening door. Every night we lock our cats on the living room side of the house. Princess was *not* opening the door with the doorknob, as my mother suspected. She was just putting her weight on it, and it was opening. I thought maybe the door striker needed to come out more, so I adjusted it with some washers first. That had no affect. Then I came up with the brilliant idea to switch the whole door knob and lock mechanism with the closet door in the hallway. After replacing it, I was shocked to see that even then it would swing right open. It just was not clicking shut. So, finally I determined that the door itself was coming down too far, and it was therefore missing the lock opening (on the door jamb). It probably needs to be raised about a quarter of an inch. How it came down so much, I don't know. I tightened the hinges down, but that did not help. Anyway, at least now I know that after I close the door, I have to lift it
slightly so that it will lock in place; then, the cats cannot just push the door open. This is dangerous if they venture into the hallway at night, because when any of us step out of our bedrooms, we can accidentally step on them. Two nights ago my sister stepped on Nikki's tail. She just was not expecting him to be in the hallway.

New Ice Machine
We got a new ice machine today. It stopped working yesterday. If you live in Houston, ice is a necessity. A mechanic from ARS came to the house before noon. At the time I was looking for electrical switches at Home Depot and Elliot Electrical supply. Since the sum for the ice machine was so large, my mom called me to ask me if we should just buy a new regrigerator. I ultimately decided that I'd rather spend the money for an ice maker so I hurried back to the house to give the guy my debit card. I'll write another entry about the fan switch.
